How to configure the device to collect location data for time and attendance registration.

Os aplicativos BatePonto e Pontotel Gestão permitem que colaboradores registrem seus pontos mesmo sem conexão com a internet, por meio do modo offline. Nesse caso, as marcações ficam armazenadas no dispositivo e são sincronizadas automaticamente quando houver conexão disponível.
Uma dúvida comum é se os pontos registrados offline gravam a localização. Sim, a localização pode ser registrada, desde que o dispositivo esteja com o GPS ativo e as permissões necessárias concedidas no momento da marcação. Além disso, para evitar inconsistências, é importante que o fuso horário automático do smartphone esteja ativado, pois o sistema possui mecanismos antifraude relacionados à hora do aparelho.

How to set up your cell phone


  1. Update the app


  • Make sure you are using the latest version of the app.
  • Access the app store corresponding to your device and check if there is an update available for the app. If you don't already have the app installed, download it.

  1. Grant permissions to the app.


  • Na primeira vez que abrir o aplicativo, autorize o uso de localização, câmera e armazenamento.
  • If you already have the app installed, go to the app settings and enable all permissions.


On an iPhone, for example, you can check app permissions by going to: Settings > Apps



💡 Tip: Each smartphone has a different way to access app settings. If you don't know how to access them, search on Google: "How to access app settings on smartphone [brand] and [model]".


  1. Activate location services (GPS)


  • Still in your device settings, look for the **location** or **GPS** option and activate it. If you can't find it, do a Google search, as instructed in the tip above.
  • Without this activation, the app will not be able to record coordinates.


  1. Activate automatic time zone.


  • Now, look in your device settings for the **date and time** adjustment. In this option, enable the Automatic time zone.
  • This prevents offline registration blocks and ensures that schedules are correctly validated by the system.


  1. Wait for the GPS to capture the location before registering it.


  • In open areas or near windows, wait a few seconds for the phone to capture the position more accurately.


  1. Record the point normally.


  • In the app, tap on Clock in and confirm.
  • The app saves the location locally and, if GPS is enabled, also records the coordinates.


  1. Synchronize the points


  • As soon as internet access is available, open the app and allow it to sync. This syncing is done automatically, but it's also possible to do a manual sync in the BatePonto app. To learn how, see this article.
  • This ensures that the point, photo, and location are sent to the system.


⚠️ Warning:


  • Offline location tracking: the app only records the location if GPS is enabled and the app has permission. Otherwise, the location will be saved without coordinates.
  • Data collection: Pontotel's applications only collect location data from the device used for time and attendance registration.
  • Automatic time zone: keeping this setting enabled on your mobile phone is mandatory for the system to correctly validate the records.
  • Location accuracy: In enclosed spaces or areas without GPS signal, accuracy may be lower. Instruct employees to clock in at locations with better signal.
  • Daily synchronization: It is essential that employees synchronize the application every day to avoid delays and failures in sending information.
  • Collector profile configuration: For the collector to capture the location, the "enable location" option must also be enabled in the collector profile. To learn more about collector profiles, please refer to this article. If you do not have the necessary permissions to make adjustments to the system, please consult your company's HR department.

The offline logging feature of the BatePonto app ensures that employees can record their work hours even without internet access. However, for accurate location tracking, it's essential that the phone has GPS enabled, automatic time zone adjustment enabled , and that the app has all necessary permissions granted.
