Medical Certificate or Attendance Statement: What is the difference and how do I submit it to Pontotel?

When needing to be absent due to health reasons, it's common to have questions about which document to present and how to correctly upload it to the platform: Medical Certificate or Attendance Statement ?

Let's understand the difference so you can correctly report an absence, whether it's for a whole day or just a few hours.

What is the difference between the documents?

  • Medical Certificate: This is a document issued by a healthcare professional certifying the need for absence from work for one or more days, indicating the period necessary for the employee's recovery.
    • When to use: Use when you need to be away for one or more full days as recommended by your doctor.

  • Attendance Statement (or Hours Statement): This document only proves that you were present at a medical appointment, examination, or procedure at a specific time. It justifies absence for a limited period (hours or minutes), but does not necessarily excuse the entire workday.
    • When to use: Use when you go to a doctor's appointment or exam and return to work the same day .

How to launch a transaction on Pontotel

The method of posting on the platform depends on the type of document you have. Pontotel divides this action into two: Full Leave (entire day) and Partial Leave (hours).

1. Release for Declaration of Attendance (Partial)

If you have a Statement of Attendance and only need to justify a few hours of absence on a given day, the correct entry is Partial Exemption .

2. Medical Certificate Submission (Full Coverage)

If you have a medical certificate recommending leave for one or more full days , the correct entry is "Full Day Leave" .

Great! Now you know the difference between the documents and which submission process to use for each one on the platform.
