How to issue a suspension for an employee

Suspension is used in specific situations where an employee must be temporarily removed from their duties without pay, but without terminating their employment relationship.

Some examples of when to use suspension include:

  • Disciplinary measures: Applied as a penalty in cases of inappropriate behavior or violation of internal company rules, as provided for in the CLT (Brazilian Labor Law) and internal policies.
  • Administrative processes: When an employee is involved in internal investigations that require their temporary leave of absence.
  • Collective agreements: Some collective agreements or conventions may provide for specific situations of suspension.
