Understand everything about Facial Recognition and Biometric Registration
Facial recognition is a security feature of Pontotel that validates the employee's identity during time and attendance registration by comparing the photo captured at the time of clocking in with the biometric data stored in the system.
This process increases the reliability of records, reduces the risk of fraud, and ensures greater security for managing the workday.
How to enable facial recognition
To use facial recognition, you need to configure a collector profile with facial validation options enabled.
- **In the navigation menu of the Management website, open the Admin and click on the Collectors.
- Select the Collector Profile.

- Choose the desired category :
- Device for web-based registration: used on the BatePonto website.
- Registration application: used in the BatePonto application.
- Management Application: used in the Pontotel Management application.

- Create or edit a collector profile.
- To edit an existing profile, select it from the list and, in the menu that opens, click the pencil icon to edit.
- To create a new profile, click the " create new collector profile"

- In the collector profile settings, follow the steps below:
- Access the photo options tab .
- Enable facial detection.
- Enable the facial recognition.
- Define the minimum accuracy percentage to validate recognition (Pontotel's recommended standard is 99.2%).
- (Optional) Enable the Liveness Detection. This setting ensures that registration is done only with real faces, preventing attempts at fraud with photos or videos.
- (Optional) Enable the Start time tracking using facial recognition. With this, the system attempts to automatically identify the employee before they enter their PIN.
- If the face is recognized: the employee's data will appear for confirmation.
- If there is no recognition: the employee should enter the PIN normally.
- If the option is disabled: the employee will enter the PIN first, and only then will the validation be done with the camera.

- Click on Save or Create profile.
How to apply the profile to the collectors
After creating the profile, it is necessary to link it to the time clocks that will record the time and attendance.
- Go to Admin > Collectors.
- Select the desired category.
- Locate the collector.
- Click on edit.
- In the Collector Profile field , select the profile created with facial recognition enabled.
- Save the changes.

How to enable the camera for employees
In addition to configuring the data collectors, the employee also needs to be authorized to use the camera during the recording process.
- Go to Registrations > Employees.
- Select the desired collaborator.
- Click on edit.
- Access the Time and Attendance and Benefits Settings.
- Enable the options related to camera usage and facial recognition.

Facial biometrics management
Facial Biometrics Management is where all the photos used for facial recognition are stored.
This is the area where you can:
- View registered biometrics.
- Approve or disapprove photos.
- Consult existing records.
- Update employee biometrics.
- Ensure that facial recognition systems have high-quality images for comparison.
How to access
There are two ways to access biometric management.
Option 1:
- Go to Registrations > Employees.
- Select the collaborator.
- Click on edit.
- Access Time and Attendance and Benefits Settings.
- Open the Facial Biometrics.
Option 2:
- Go to Registrations > Facial Biometrics.
- Use the filters to locate specific collaborators.

What are the approved photos?
The approved photos are the images used as a reference for facial recognition.
When an employee clocks in and out, the photo taken is compared to these images to confirm their identity.
Each employee can have up to five active biometric data records.
The better the quality of these images, the more accurate the facial recognition will be.
Therefore, we recommend always keeping all five biometric data points updated, taking into account any possible changes in appearance, such as:
- Using or removing a beard.
- Use of eyeglasses.
- Haircut changes.
- Different lighting conditions.
Best practices for facial recognition photos
Image quality directly influences the performance of the technology.
Recommended photos:
✅ Face centered and facing the camera.
✅ Good lighting.
✅ Neutral background.
✅ Only one person in the image.
✅ Face fully visible.
✅ Clear photo with no movement.

Photos that should be avoided:
❌ Dark photos or photos with excessive light.
❌ Blurry images.
❌ Cut face.
❌ Photos with multiple people.
❌ Use of filters.
❌ Sunglasses, masks, or hats.
❌ Side or angled framing.

✨ New Feature: Easy Biometric Registration
In addition to biometrics generated from time and attendance records, Pontotel also offers Easy Biometric Registration.
This feature allows employees to register their biometric data directly from their mobile phone, ensuring high-quality images for facial recognition.
When to use
The Easy Biometric Registration is primarily recommended for:
- New employees.
- Correction of low-quality biometric data.
- Cases of recurring failures in facial recognition.
- Updating old photos.
How it works
The process is carried out in a guided workflow and validated in real time.
First, the employee's PIN is entered.
Next, the employee's data is displayed for verification, reducing the risk of associating biometrics with the wrong person.
After confirmation, the system opens the device's camera and guides the user through capturing the photo.
During this process, messages may be displayed automatically, such as:
- Come closer.
- Step back a little.
- Look at the camera.
- Keep your head straight.
- It needs more light.
- Avoid direct light.
- Stand still.
The catch is only released when all minimum quality criteria are met.
Automatic quality validation
Before approving a biometric data entry, the system automatically analyzes:
- There is only one person in the image.
- Appropriate framing.
- Correct distance from the camera.
- Good lighting.
- Photo sharpness.
- Correct facial positioning.
The biometric data is only registered after these criteria are approved.
Biometric replacement
When an employee already has five active biometric data entries, the system allows for the automatic replacement of the oldest one.
The history of previous images is maintained for auditing and traceability.
How to access
The Easy Biometric Registration is available exclusively for mobile devices.
Currently, it is not accessible through the Management website menu, nor through the applications.
Access must be done through the smartphone's browser, via the link: https://gestao.pontotel.com.br/#/biometria/autenticar
Pontotel's facial recognition offers an additional layer of security for time and attendance records, reducing inconsistencies and increasing the reliability of clockings.
By keeping biometrics up-to-date and using resources such as Easy Biometric Registration, your company ensures a more reliable biometric database, improves recognition rates, and provides a safer experience for employees, managers, and HR teams.
