How to file a suspension

Suspension is used in specific situations where an employee must be temporarily removed from their duties without pay, but without terminating their employment relationship.

Some examples of when to use suspension include:

  • Disciplinary measures: Applied as a penalty in cases of inappropriate behavior or violation of internal company rules, as provided for in the CLT (Brazilian Labor Law) and internal policies.
  • Administrative processes: When an employee is involved in internal investigations that require their temporary leave of absence.
  • Collective agreements: Some collective agreements or conventions may provide for specific situations of suspension.

Recording a suspension on an employee's timesheet in the Pontotel system is simple and helps ensure accurate records and compliance with company policies. See the step-by-step instructions below for making this entry.

How to file a suspension

  1. In the navigation menu of the Management website, open the Payroll and select the Timesheet.

  1. Filter by employees.

  1. In the "select employees" field, search for and select the employee, then click search.

  1. In the upper left corner of the screen, select the period for which you want to suspend the suspension.

  1. Right-click on the row corresponding to the date, or click on the three blue dots next to the date.

💡 Tip: Alternatively, you can also access the dropdown menu via the "add justification" option, which is located in the tools menu on the right side of the sheet.

  1. In the menu that opens, select the suspension.

  1. Fill in the suspension information:

  • Reason: Select the reason for the suspension. If there is no reason that matches the situation, create a new default reason before proceeding.
  • Date: Enter or select the day on which the suspension will be applied.
  • Deduct paid weekly rest: If applicable, select the option to deduct paid weekly rest.
  • Consider as an absence: Check if the suspension should be considered an absence.

  1. After filling in all the fields, click "Add" to record the suspension on the employee's timesheet.

  1. Check if the suspension is listed in the day's schedule and event.

Properly documenting a suspension ensures organization and accuracy in company reports and records.
